Categorical Resolution, not confidence scores
FastQuote Resolution is matched, ambiguous, needs_information, or not_found. A Candidate set is the Parts still under consideration — never a percentage.
Resolution is categorical. Every RFQ line is matched, ambiguous, needs_information, or not_found. FastQuote never reports a percentage, a score, or a certainty.
The four outcomes
- matched — the Candidate set contains exactly one Part. That Part is selected.
- ambiguous — more than one Part still fits. The full Candidate set stays visible. FastQuote does not pick.
- needs_information — a quantity or a spec is missing or colliding, so the line cannot resolve yet.
- not_found — the Catalog has no Part for those terms. FastQuote does not invent a substitute.
Candidate set
The Candidate set is the Parts still under consideration after Resolution. A Part is selected only when this set contains exactly one. Calling that set “matches” or “hits” hides the rule: more than one means the Rep still has work.
The Rep reviews
The Rep reviews Resolution. Ambiguous lines keep every remaining Part. Missing quantity stays missing — FastQuote never defaults it to 1. Nothing is persisted or sent.
A percentage would hide that work behind a number. Categorical Resolution names the state instead.
